API Developer

About the Role

The DataOps team at StormGeo is responsible for delivering forecasts, observations, and related data to teams building applications across GRPC, REST, and GraphQL architectures. We work closely with data engineers, data scientists, and developers to gather requirements, discuss solutions, and deliver cutting-edge APIs. 

We are modernizing legacy applications while developing new services — and we're looking for a skilled API Developer who is hands-on with modern .NET practices and comfortable navigating both legacy and greenfield environments. 

This position is Brazil-based with flexible work arrangements (remote, hybrid, or in-office). You’ll join a highly collaborative international team helping build a high-quality data platform that serves both internal and external customers. 

Main Responsibilities  

• Design, develop and test APIs primarily in .NET Core and C#. 
• Maintain clear documentation for development processes, system architecture, and codebases.    
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure integration and alignment with the platform roadmap.  
• Support and enhance existing applications and services.  
• Identify opportunities to leverage new technologies to improve performance, scalability, and reliability.  
• Be an advocate of the value the API-first design: 
• Your API is the first user interface of your application. 
• Your API comes first, then the implementation. 
• Your API is described (and maybe even self-descriptive). 

Core Requirements 

• Bachelor’s degree or related training or experience in computer science, information technology, computer engineering.  
• 3+ years of development experience in .NET/C# in API development (REST or GRPC). 
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment tool.  
•  Experienced with databases, preferably MySQL and Postgres.  
• Ability to write clear, maintainable, testable, efficient, and secure code. 
• Experience working with cloud providers (Azure/AWS) will be a bonus.  
• Self-motivated and innovative, with strong problem-solving instincts and close attention to details.  
• Ability to work within a team in a multidisciplinary environment.  
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Ability to work in a global and multi-cultural environment as well as individually.

• Initiative and ownership in driving ideas and improvements. 
• Experience with location-based applications or geospatial databases.
