Senior System Engineer

About the role 

We are looking for Senior System Engineer to design, operate, and continuously evolve StormGeo's core infrastructure and platforms, ensuring high levels of stability, scalability, security, and long-term sustainability. 

In this role, you will support standardized, automated, and platform-oriented IT services that enable business growth, enhance reliability, and ensure efficient, resilient operations across the organization. 

📍 This position is based in Vilnius, Lithuania, or Bergen, Oslo, Norway. 

Main Responsibilities 

• Operate, maintain, and continuously improve core infrastructure, including servers, virtualization, storage, and backup solutions. 
• Ensure high availability, resilience, and recoverability of critical services. 
• Contribute to platform engineering initiatives, such as Kubernetes / Tanzu. 
• Implement and maintain automation and infrastructure-as-code practices. 
• Collaborate closely with Network, Security, and Service Desk teams to ensure reliable and secure operations. 

Requirements 

• Strong hands-on experience with Linux and Windows environments. 
• Experience working with virtualization platforms, such as VMware. 
• Practical knowledge of storage and backup solutions. 
• Scripting and automation skills using Bash, PowerShell, and/or Python. 
• Proven experience in operational environments, including incident management and troubleshooting in production. 

Nice to Have 

• Experience with Kubernetes, including platforms such as Tanzu. 
• Experience working with VMware Cloud Foundation. 
• Exposure to public cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, or GCP). 
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools.
